How to Brew Your Own Beer

Learning how to brew your own beer may seem formidable at first, but it is really a fairly simplistic process. However, developing a specific taste can prove a great deal more complicated. With a little research and a lot of practice, most people can develop their own beers with unique tastes.

  1. First: Research and understand the brewing process

This may seem overly simplistic, but it is critically important. The truth is that there are as many ways to brew beer as there are brands of beer. While there are some universal truths, the steps taken vary to an incredible degree. It is important to get familiar with a wide variety of these processes before venturing out on your own.

  2. Second: Buy the ingredients and get started

It may sound trite, but eventually it is necessary to simply jump in and get started. Many aspiring brewers get caught up in the pursuit of perfection. They spend far too many hours researching and even longer developing personal brews and taste-testing every one. Brewing beer is an art and some amount of tweaking is necessary for any formula, but eventually it is necessary to simply start brewing. The pursuit of perfection is admirable, but it is one that every serious brewer is following. Every brew is a work in progress.

  3. Third: Start the taste testing process

Once you have jumped in and brewed some beer, you are going to need to find people willing to do a taste test. Generally, willing volunteers are very easy to find. Make sure your volunteers are open to providing honest feedback about how your beer tastes. People who drink many microbrews and award-winning beers are a good sample.
